The last days were marked by two events about the early career initiatives around the world: The webinar and the report on the role of Early Career Pharmaceutical Groups (ECPG) in Global Health.
This project started in 2020, together with the officialization of the pursue of FIP YPG in developing a network of ECPGs and supporting the creation of new ones, by enabling the local pharmacists to start their own groups. While the initiatives aiming at these points started, a question was raised — Which roles do these groups have in their own locations and in the world? How did the other early career pharmacists perceive their work or what do they expect from them, both where exist, and where they don’t exist? And how can these answers lead to better development of such groups?
Such difficult questions demanded the implementation of a research led by the Member Relations Subcommittee of FIP YPG, which considered different aspects of the practice, global context, and early career needs of pharmacists. This research was done, and the development of the report started, which required the data analysis of multiple answers, as well as making sense of such amount of information.
In the preparation of the report, I worked with the case studies. It was great to see that the existing and participating ECPGs have projects from policy to practice, from stable to disaster conditions, from mind-provoking to hands-on approaches.
Finally, this Monday, 9 of August we had the webinar to launch the report, which was officially published on Thursday, 12 August — The World Youth Day. Take a chance to see it online!
