Sherly Meilianti
YPG Project Coordinator 2019
Hi everyone, I am Sherly Meilianti from Indonesia, and I am currently a PhD student in UCL School of Pharmacy, United Kingdom. Before I started my PhD, I worked as the Head of Department Pharmacy in one of the private hospitals in Indonesia for four years. I was involved in the quality committee, patient safety committee and pharmacy and therapeutics committee to improve pharmacy services for our patients. I also initiated a clinical pharmacy service in the intensive care unit, and I was involved in the preparation of hospital accreditation nationally and internationally (JCI accreditation). It was a great experience as we built our team together and I aimed to ensure that younger pharmacists gain much experience in our hospital. After completing my master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy International Practice and Policy, I decided to pursue a doctorate on pharmacy workforce development, which I am currently undertaking at the UCL-FIP Collaborating Centre. My research focuses on the development of frameworks for advanced pharmacy practice in Indonesia. I enjoy working at a national and global level to improve professional development of other people. That is why I am also actively engaged with some voluntary positions related to professional development. For example, in Indonesia Mengglobal Mentorship Programme, I was actively being as a mentor for others who want to study abroad. Moreover, I had helped Indonesian Young Pharmacist Group (IYPG) to establish the IYPG in Riau Provinces as a forum for young pharmacists to express their ideas and creativity in Indonesia. In 2018, I have been appointed as the academic liaison of the FIP Young Pharmacists Group (YPG) and FIPEd. I gained lots involvement by being the liaison, and I am very grateful to be appointed as FIP Project Coordinator this year. I am looking forward to collaborating with pharmacists from around the world! International collaboration is always exciting and inspiring!
